Birmingham Associate Emily Pendley has been recognized in Birmingham Business Journal's "NextGen: Emerging Leaders in Law."

The NextGen award program honors Birmingham’s up-and-coming attorneys under 40. Honorees were selected based on their contributions to the firm, tangible results in their practice areas, and involvement in the community, among other factors.

"Emily’s work ethic, intelligence, and superb ability to relate to people is a great combination," said Vic Hayslip, leader of the firm's Commercial Litigation practice group. "She’s also the consummate team player who is always willing to contribute to helping others. Whether a complex commercial case or a pro bono representation of an indigent person, she gives it her entire effort. The results she has achieved are a tribute to her tireless efforts."

Emily is an associate in the General Commercial Litigation practice group, where she focuses her practice on business disputes and appellate proceedings. She has defended multiple banks against allegations of wire fraud and breach of the Uniform Commercial Code. Additionally, she has represented various companies against claims of breach of indemnification and breach of contract.

Beyond her work in the courtroom, Emily founded the Laps for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which has raised over $3 million for cystic fibrosis care and research. Her efforts have facilitated the opening and funding of numerous cystic fibrosis clinics in South America.
