Judge releases city from 31-year-old hiring decree-Michael Choy quoted.

A federal judge decided on Thursday, January 26th to dismiss the city from a 1981 consent decree in which the city entered into to settle a 1975 lawsuit that claimed the city, Jefferson County and the county's personnel had discriminated in its hiring. Much of the consent had already been lifted in 2005 with just a few issues remaining after a judge raised concerns in February 2010. To read the full article by the Birmingham News,Click here
