Burr Remembers Charleston Attorney Lucas Padgett

Burr Forman McNair remembers Charleston Counsel Lucas C. Padgett, Jr., who recently passed away on February 24, 2019.  Before his time at Burr Forman McNair (formerly McNair Law Firm), he practiced at the law firm of Morris, Duffy and Boone.  He specialized in land use and local government law; and he was a long-time counsel for the City of Charleston Commissioners of Public Works.  He is survived by his wife, Lee Ann Padgett, his children, Charlotte, Caroline, Ann, and Lucas, and his grandson, Logan.

At Burr Forman McNair, Padgett had a long history of representing water and wastewater utilities for municipal county and public service districts. He also spent a part of his practice representing clients on election law matters.

Lucas argued cases in the Courts of South Carolina, including the Courts of Appeals and S.C. Supreme Court. In his later years, he worked extensively with clients on large tract real estate developments to obtain zoning and development agreements with local governments.

Lucas was also long-time member of the Charleston Bar. He graduated from Wofford College in 1968 and from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1973.
