Shea is a partner in Burr & Forman's Commercial Litigation Practice Group and is based in the Atlanta office. Shea has been an AV rated lawyer for more than 10 years and has more than 17 years of experience as a commercial litigation trial lawyer. His experience includes representing businesses and individuals in commercial contract disputes, corporate governance and partner/shareholder disputes, financial services litigation, lender liability and banking disputes, fraud and business torts, real estate, professional malpractice, employment, intellectual property disputes, bankruptcy, and personal injury and wrongful death. Shea has tried many jury and bench trials as lead counsel in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels in Georgia and throughout the country.
Shea has been named several times to lists in Georgia's Super Lawyers magazine and has been named a "Local Litigation Star" in the 2012 and 2013 editions of Benchmark Litigation, and was selected as one of Georgia Trend Magazine’s 2012 Legal Elite. Shea grew up in Atlanta, graduated from the University of Georgia in 1991, and then attended Mercer University Law School where he graduated cum laude in 1995. In law school, Shea served on the Mercer Law Review where he was a Managing Editor in 1994-1995. Shea has been a frequent speaker to attorneys and judges and has been published more than a dozen times in various legal journals and periodicals. Annually since 2005, Shea has co-authored the Trial Practice and Procedure article in the Mercer Law Review's Eleventh Circuit Survey.
Shea and his wife Lynn have three children and live in Sandy Springs. Shea has volunteered in numerous capacities at charities and foundations and was a member of the committee that achieved cityhood for Sandy Springs. Shea lends much of his time to his children's schools and extracurricular activities. Shea's interests include his family, college football, guitar, the outdoors, and golf. Shea has run the Peachtree Road Race 22 consecutive times, and 25 times total. In 1995, Shea caught a Cubs home run ball at Wrigley Field which was featured on ESPN's Plays of the Week.
