Ryan practices in the Labor & Employment group defending employers in litigation against claims brought under various federal and state laws in both federal and state courts, arbitration, and before administrative agencies.

Ryan has handled investigations, audits, and litigation involving government agencies, including the EEOC, NLRB and OSHA. In addition, Ryan provides counseling to employers involving issues arising under various federal and state employment laws. He also assists clients with preparing executive employment agreements, including non-compete agreements, and drafting employee handbooks.

He was recognized as a "Rising Star" by Alabama Super Lawyers in 2011 and 2012 in Labor & Employment Law.

Ryan received his J.D. in 2000 from Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he was an Articles Editor for the Southern Methodist University International Law Review. He received his B.A. from Washington and Lee University in 1996, where he was a member and captain of the Varsity Tennis Team.

What community projects are you involved in?
I am actively involved in the Birmingham Kiwanis Club, the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama, and Brookwood Baptist Church.

What was your first job?
My first job was teaching tennis at a local tennis club. Not a bad first job.

What are your hobbies?
In addition to spending time with my wife and daughter, I enjoy tennis, running, horseback riding, and martial arts.

How do you define a “good day”?
A good day is when I help a client solve a problem to their satisfaction.
