Burr & Forman Recognized Among Healthiest Employers in Four Markets for 2012

    December 21, 2012

Burr & Forman LLP is proud to announce that the firm is honored by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Birmingham Business Journal, the Nashville Business Journal and the Orlando Business Journal on the publications’ annual lists of healthiest employers for 2012.

“Over 80 percent of our workforce participates in one or more of our wellness programs on an annual basis” Cathy Ogletree

Since the first wellness initiative was implemented at Burr & Forman in 2008, the firm has continued its commitment to healthy living through a variety of programs aimed at physical fitness, nutrition and reducing stress.

“Over 80 percent of our workforce participates in one or more of our wellness programs on an annual basis,” said Cathy Ogletree, director of human resources for Burr & Forman. “We offer many programs to meet our employees’ different needs, and we try to make them fun, easy, and competitive, where appropriate.”

The firm’s wellness initiatives include annual biometric health screenings, an online health coaching website, a smoking cessation program, and flu shots to its employees and spouses. To further support healthy living, Burr & Forman offers fruit for purchase in break rooms, cutting-edge fitness devices, and lunch-and-learn education programs with healthy meals.

In addition, the firm’s most popular wellness initiative is its annual walking program. Implemented in 2008 and utilized by all offices, the program was created as an easy program for attorneys and staff of all physical capabilities to participate in. Each of Burr & Forman’s offices set up teams of employees who keep track of how many miles are collectively walked each week. During the three-month program, teams who reach their mileage goal, are entered to win prizes every three weeks.

These prizes range from small items such as iTunes and restaurant gift cards to larger items such as iPods, XBOX and a $500 gift card.

    TESTIMONIALS

    • “Our firm has used Burr & Forman, and particularly Logan Hinkle, for our retirement plan and many employment law issues over the years.  I have always found their entire staff of lawyers, paralegals and assistants to be knowledgeable and just as importantly prompt in their response to our questions or concerns.  They have always kept us abreast of changes in the law and suggest changes that we should make in our employment practices, or our retirement plan, to keep current and compliant.  Our relationship has always been professional but at the same time very cordial and respectful.  Our association with Logan and his partners, associates and colleagues has been outstanding.”

    • "A great lawyer: she is practical. When you work on a deal she will protect the client and do it right, but won't waste time on unnecessary issues."

      -Chambers 2013

    • “Very competent. She’s often regarded as the queen of the bankruptcy court in central Florida. She is very well respected and very well versed in the bankruptcy code. Her mind is more focused on the legal aspects of things and she has an ability to work on deals outside court.”

      -Chambers 2012

    • “I think they’re great. They cost dramatically less but still offer a full suite of services. They have all the wherewithal to get work done without the New York rates.”

    • “I have worked with Jay Price for over 10 years on banking transactions throughout the country.  His knowledge of real estate law, the Uniform Commercial Code and his loan documentation skills have brought me much confidence that every loan will close in an appropriate and correct manner. He is the most efficient, diligent, and time responsive attorney I have worked with in my over 30 years in the banking industry.”
