Burr & Forman Named a Job Creation Leader by INC Magazine

    December 05, 2012

Burr & Forman LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected as a winner of the inaugural Inc. Hire Power Awards, recognizing private companies that are leading the way in creating American jobs.

“Each office we open and each hire we make follows a careful and strategic review of our clients’ needs."

    -Lee Thuston

Inc. Magazine ranked Burr & Forman in the top 10 in the Private Sector category for the state of Alabama. The list has been published today and available at www.inc.com. The firm was recognized at an awards ceremony on December 6 in Washington, D.C. Burr & Forman also earned a spot earlier this year on the publication’s sixth annual 500|5000 list, which highlights the nation’s fastest-growing private companies.

“The growth that we have continued to experience over the last several years, but particularly in 2012, is the direct result of feedback from our clients,” explained William Lee Thuston, managing partner of Burr & Forman. “Each office we open and each hire we make follows a careful and strategic review of our clients’ needs. This recognition underlines the continued demand we hear from clients with legal needs across the Southeast, and we look forward to further growth, as it makes sense, in 2013.”

Burr & Forman’s growth over the last year has raised its firmwide attorney count to nearly 300 attorneys, up almost 20 percent in just 12 months. In October, the firm combined with Williams Schifino Mangione & Steady, P.A. in Tampa, Fla., bolstering its Southeastern footprint, and has added 50 attorneys since December 2011.

    TESTIMONIALS

    • “Probably the smartest human being to whom I can honestly refer to as a friend. His practice covers securities, banks, investment banking transactions, anything remotely financially related, personal financial investments as well. He is just smart as hell and has a mastery of a fairly wide array of disciplines which is a little unusual. He has the mental capacity to go beyond that. He is also one of the first guys I call.”

      -Chambers 2012

    • “Very competent. She’s often regarded as the queen of the bankruptcy court in central Florida. She is very well respected and very well versed in the bankruptcy code. Her mind is more focused on the legal aspects of things and she has an ability to work on deals outside court.”

    • "Rik Tozzi . . . adds further strength to this talented team and has been integral to the group's ongoing representation . . . in relation to a potential $200 million RICO class action."

    • “Very good, very well-rounded, and they have a lot of expertise in multiple fields. They do a very good job and are very cost-effective. They have very capable people at multiple levels, so if it’s associate-level work we’re not getting charged for a partner doing it.”
