Burr & Forman Named a Job Creation Leader by INC Magazine

    December 05, 2012

Burr & Forman LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected as a winner of the inaugural Inc. Hire Power Awards, recognizing private companies that are leading the way in creating American jobs.

“Each office we open and each hire we make follows a careful and strategic review of our clients’ needs."

    -Lee Thuston

Inc. Magazine ranked Burr & Forman in the top 10 in the Private Sector category for the state of Alabama. The list has been published today and available at www.inc.com. The firm was recognized at an awards ceremony on December 6 in Washington, D.C. Burr & Forman also earned a spot earlier this year on the publication’s sixth annual 500|5000 list, which highlights the nation’s fastest-growing private companies.

“The growth that we have continued to experience over the last several years, but particularly in 2012, is the direct result of feedback from our clients,” explained William Lee Thuston, managing partner of Burr & Forman. “Each office we open and each hire we make follows a careful and strategic review of our clients’ needs. This recognition underlines the continued demand we hear from clients with legal needs across the Southeast, and we look forward to further growth, as it makes sense, in 2013.”

Burr & Forman’s growth over the last year has raised its firmwide attorney count to nearly 300 attorneys, up almost 20 percent in just 12 months. In October, the firm combined with Williams Schifino Mangione & Steady, P.A. in Tampa, Fla., bolstering its Southeastern footprint, and has added 50 attorneys since December 2011.

    TESTIMONIALS

    • "I am an employee of a large bank and responsible for a complex commercial real estate portfolio of problem loans and special assets.  I find Erich to be a most valuable resource and team member.  Erich is totally engaged in evaluating the bank's position related to the debt obligation(s), the collateral securing the debt and, when possible, offering alternative solutions that oftentimes lead to enhanced resolutions benefiting both the customer and the bank.  His proactive problem identification, problem prevention and problem solving skills make him my "go to" legal counsel."

    • “I am extremely pleased with the service provided by Graham. I find him to be very responsive to my needs. He and his firm have taken the time to learn our business and our company culture and values. He consistently synthesizes "The Law" with practical business concerns and Georgia Gulf's culture. This enables me to entrust him with sensitive matters with complete confidence that we will receive first rate, practical, and cost effective advice and representation.”

    • “I have an excellent working relationship with a number of attorneys at the firm, all of whom I trust to handle our problems. Even at a generously negotiated rate, we pay the attorneys at Burr & Forman a slightly higher rate than we pay other attorneys for similar services. We are willing to pay that premium because of the firm’s competence in so many areas, whereas other smaller firms tend to specialize in areas and have weaknesses in others.”

    • “Very much a documentation person. She is behind the scenes and explains things very well. She...has wonderful skills.”
