  • Defended a global steel manufacturing company in a personal injury action involving a subcontractor's employee's accident involving a manlift.

  • Defended a road construction contractor that was under contract with the Alabama Department of Transportation to perform improvements to a highway, including the intersection where the accident occurred. The accident resulted in the death of plaintiff when co-defendant turned into decedent's path and he was thrown from the motorcycle he was driving.

  • Defended a physician in a suit where plaintiff claimed he and several other doctors falsely imprisoned her in a state mental institution.

  • Defended the manufacturer of a pain medication infusion pump in a personal injury case involving permanent neurologic injury to a 50 year old female.

  • Retained by the excess carrier of a pool products company and distributing company for review and evaluation regarding potential liability and resolution in a suit involving the near drowning of a child.

  • Defended the local clinic of a national dialysis company in a medical malpractice wrongful death action brought by decedent's estate.

  • Defended an engineering company in a wrongful death action involving the electrocution death of an electrical contractor's employee doing work at a paper mill.

  • Defended a paving company and driver in a personal injury vehicle accident where the driver suffered serious injuries, including traumatic amputation of both legs.

  • Defended a worldwide engineering, construction and services company in personal injury suit where plaintiff suffered a fall from a platform at co-defendant's plant where he was employed.

  • Defended the excess carrier for a global supplier of heavy equipment in a personal injury (traumatic amputation of both arms) suit involving a freight elevator accident located in a coal mine where plaintiff was working.

  • Retained by the manufacturer of nutritional supplements in a series of cases wherein the plaintiffs allegedly suffered strokes or heart attacks. Cases involved medical and toxicology Daubert issues challenges.

  • Defended a worldwide aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO-FAA-CFR Part 145) facility in a personal injury suit with multiple plaintiffs who are airline crew members alleging neurologic injuries as a result of exposure to toxic cabin air (aerotoxic syndrome).

  • Defended an industrial electrical construction company in a case arising out of an explosion at a mill that manufactured oriented strand board that was so severe it resulted in the permanent closure of the mill. The personal injury suit involved four plaintiffs who were employees at the mill who suffered severe burn injuries.

  • Defended highway contractor who completed a resurfacing project on a state highway in a wrongful death suit, which came about as a result of an automobile accident with three fatalities.

Ed is Managing Partner of the firm's Mobile office and a thirty year trial lawyer veteran who has tried over 120 jury cases to verdict.

In his practice, Ed is regularly called upon in the pre-trial stage of a case to enter an appearance and take the lead as first chair at trial. He often serves as national trial counsel and regional trial counsel defending clients in “Bet the Company” litigation, commercial litigation, insurance litigation and coverage, products liability, and manufacturing and sales defects cases.

Ed’s client base includes insurance carriers, manufacturers and suppliers, engineering and construction companies, healthcare providers and facilities, and highway contractors and paving companies.

Ed is an Advocate Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a by invitation only membership for experienced trial lawyers, and has achieved Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent Rated Lawyer designation.
