Gary serves as the Chair of the firm's Lending Practice Group focusing on representing commercial lenders with respect to loan originations, syndications, workouts, and recovery.

Gary practices in the Atlanta office of the firm, which he founded in 1995.  He has served on the Executive Committee of the firm and was formerly the managing partner of the Atlanta office.  Gary has practiced law since 1988 and is admitted to practice in Georgia and Alabama.  He represents banks and other lending institutions, including Wells Fargo Bank, Regions Bank, Atlantic Capital Bank, Synovus Bank, BBVA Compass Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Community and Southern Bank, and Hamilton State Bank.

Gary has extensive experience in representing commercial lending institutions in the financing and management of commercial real estate, including construction, term and revolving loan facilities, loan syndications, and participations.   Gary has worked with a variety of specialized real estate lending, including affordable housing projects, credit enhancement for tax exempt financing, and bondable lease transactions.

When the real estate market declines, Gary devotes a great deal of time to counseling lenders in loan restructurings and workouts, distressed loan sales, receivers and foreclosure, deeds in lieu of foreclosure, and the disposition of REO assets.

Gary also works with lessors and investors in large ticket and middle market leveraged lease transactions involving numerous categories of equipment, including aircraft, rolling stock, maritime vessels, automotive leases, and information technology. He also has experience with closing other commercial loans, including working capital lines of credit, capital expenditures loans, letter of credit facilities, and equipment loans.

Gary also has substantial experience in representing developers and investors in the acquisition, financing, development, and sale of commercial real estate.
