About Brent
Brent practices with the firm’s Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy practice group. His practice concentrates mainly on complex commercial bankruptcy matters and commercial loan restructurings, focusing on the representation of creditors in distressed debt situations, typically secured creditors in the bankruptcy, receivership, foreclosure and out-of-court workout arenas. In addition to commercial bankruptcy matters and loan workouts, Brent has experience in general commercial litigation, representing manufacturing companies in complex contractual disputes.
Brent serves on the Steering Committee of the Birmingham Bar Association Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section. Brent earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he was a member of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board and the Managing Board of the Journal of the Legal Profession. He received his B.S., summa cum laude, in Political Science from Troy University, where he was a member of the university’s golf team.
What was your first job?
I first worked as a cart attendant at a golf course. I washed carts, picked up range balls, and played free golf.
What are your hobbies?
Golf, watching sports, and snow skiing
What advice would you give to a young student in law school?
Work hard your first year, especially the first semester, as those grades are the most important.
