About Bob

Bob was selected as a Charter Member of the American College of Bankruptcy in 1990 and served two terms as a Director. Chambers USA, the highly regarded legal directory that is based upon actual client interviews, has named Bob as a “Leader in their Field” in the area of bankruptcy since 2009. He is listed in the Best Lawyers in America in the Bankruptcy Law category and was selected for inclusion in Alabama Super Lawyers from 2008 through 2012. In 2007 and 2010, he was selected for inclusion in The International Who’s Who of Insolvency & Restructuring Lawyers.

Bob is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association.

He is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy and secured transactions topics and has spoken to the Mississippi State Bar Bankruptcy Section Annual Seminar, the Alabama State Bar Continuing Legal Education program, the Cumberland School of Law Annual Bankruptcy Seminar, and the Mid-South Bankruptcy Seminar. He has also served on the faculty of the LSU Graduate School of Banking and as a professor for the PESI and Lorman Educational Systems.

Bob has served as an adjunct professor for the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and the Birmingham School of Law. He was recently selected to serve as an adjunct professor for the University of Alabama School of Law beginning in 2009.

Bob received his B.A. in 1961 from Memphis State University and his LL.B. in 1965 from Vanderbilt University. He was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1965.

  • Counsel for Debtor Enstar Specialty Retail and subsidiaries ($100 million retail Chapter 11); Counsel for Debtor in Enstar Group Chapter 11 ($100 million publicly held holding company case).
  • Counsel for purchaser in Chapter 11 case of Warrior Drilling & Engineering, Inc. Represented Howell Petroleum of Houston, Texas in $60 million acquisition of assets from Chapter 11 debtor.
  • Counsel for Regions Bank as secured creditor in Chapter 11 case of Goldstein Brothers, Inc. d/b/a Golbro, a retail jewelry store chain.
  • Counsel for Debtor, Lakeland Farms in largest agricultural Chapter 11 case filed in Alabama.
  • Counsel for petitioning creditors in involuntary Chapter 7 Tri-Care Rehabilitation Services, Inc. - Physical Rehab group with over $10 million in debt.
  • Counsel for Wells Fargo Bank in major shopping center bankruptcy.
  • Counsel for Creditors Committee in Chapter 11 case of Cathedral of the Cross - major church reorganization.
  • Representation of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company with $40 million claim in major oil and gas bankruptcy in Birmingham.
