About Ben
Ben practices in the firm’s Business section in the Real Estate Group. He focuses on commercial real estate transactions, with an emphasis in shopping center and industrial site acquisition and development and in shopping center, office, industrial, and health care leasing. Formerly in the wine business, he also advises clients on issues involving the Alabama Beverage Control Board.
Ben recently completed a tenure as Chair of the Retail Leasing Committee of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section of the American Bar Association. He is an Associate Member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and a member of the Alabama State Bar and the Birmingham Bar Association. He is also listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the Real Estate Law category.
Ben received his B.A. in 1975 from Tulane University and his J.D., cum laude, in 1986 from Cumberland School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Cumberland Law Review. He was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1986.
Ben in the community
Ben is President of the Tum Tum Tree Foundation (formerly known as the Friends of Magic Moments Children), an organization which raises money through an annual wine auction to benefit physically and mentally challenged children and children with severe diseases, disorders, disabilities, and life altering conditions. He is also Secretary and Past President of the Birmingham Chamber Music Society.
