About Bruce

Bruce has extensive trial experience and practice in connection with numerous civil cases involving education law, business and securities litigation, personal injury, contract disputes, employment litigation, product liability, intellectual property litigation and professional liability matters.

Bruce practices in numerous federal and state court proceedings on behalf of several boards of education in the state of Georgia. Bruce served as Lead and Primary Counsel handling litigation of numerous significant educational decisions in Georgia, including the case establishing the rights of public school systems to charge tuition for programs outside the common school program, cases limiting constitutional guarantees to common school programs and excluding guarantees to extra-curricular activities in athletic cases.

On behalf of private insurers, he has defended numerous boards of education in defense of claims asserting personal injury and violation of constitutional rights in connection with school programs, employment and other personnel matters. Bruce served as a consultant to the Professional Practices Commission in connection with the drafting of a Code of Ethics for Teachers in Georgia. He has made numerous seminar presentations on issues of school law and trial practice to the Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Georgia and to the Georgia School Board Association. Bruce served as a Hearing Officer for the Professional Practices Commission of Georgia and now serves as a Special Assistant Administrative Law Judge for the Georgia Office of State Administrative Hearings.

Bruce successfully represented in federal court litigation the producer and owner of the movie 9 Weeks when an Atlanta adult bookstore began operating under that same name. He was also part of the team that successfully represented Pfizer, Inc. in securing injunctive relief and a seizure order when an Atlanta mass marketer began selling a purported impotence drug under the name Vaegra. In his defense of professional liability matters, Bruce has represented a number of Atlanta lawyers and large Atlanta law firms on issues involving professional liability and ethics.

Bruce received his B.M.E. from Georgia Institute of Technology and his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Georgia. During law school, he served as Notes Editor for the Georgia Law Review, was the number one honor graduate in his law school class, received the Meinhart Memorial Award and the Law School Society Award and was honored as one of the first Woodruff Scholars.

What community projects are you involved in? My wife and I are members of The Temple in Atlanta. We have been active in a number of charitable organizations including The Center for the Visually Impaired, American Diabetes Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and others.

What are your hobbies? I’ve become an avid golfer. I am a member of The Golf Club of Georgia, Olde Atlanta Golf Club (where I was the first President of the Members Association), and a member of the AGA Tour (where I serve on the Players Advisory Council).
