About Sharae

Sharae practices in the firm’s Labor and Employment section representing employers in all aspects of labor and employment law. She has worked with clients in diverse industries including construction, manufacturing, health care, financial services, telecommunications, and employment recruiting/staffing.

Sharae has experience handling matters in various jurisdictions including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia. She advises clients on a wide range of issues such as employment policies, procedures and “best practices,” employment discrimination lawsuits and EEOC charges, wage and hour laws, unfair labor practice charges, unfair competition and trade secrets, collective bargaining and minority business procurement.

Sharae also served abroad as the Freedom of Information Act/Privacy Act Coordinator for the Camp S.D. Butler Office of the Staff Judge Advocate on Okinawa, Japan. Sharae is a member of the Labor and Employment Section of the American Bar Association and an active member of the Intrastate Moot Court Committee of the State Bar of Georgia. She is also a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, the Gate City Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, and the Okinawa Bench and Bar Association.

Sharae received her B.A., with distinction, from Georgia State University in 2000. She obtained her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law in May 2003. During law school, Sharae was Notes Editor of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law, the Entertainment Law Director of the Sports and Entertainment Law Club, and recipient of the Marion F. Smith and R.J. Reynolds Trust scholarships. Additionally, she was a member of the Black Law Students Association, served as a member and coach of the American Bar Association Moot Court Team, and a Pupil in the Joseph Henry Lumpkin American Inn of Court. Sharae’s ABA Moot Court team was a National Quarterfinalist and won their Regional Competition where she received a top oralist award.

Sharae co-authored Using Labor Brokers: The Legal Issues in Construction Dimensions (publication of the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industries), August 2004, The Indeck-Glens Falls Building and Construction Trades Cases: Implications and Unresolved Issues, AGC Labor Law Symposium, April 2008; and Georgia Labor and Employment Laws, a synopsis of important state-specific laws governing Georgia employers.

Habitat for Humanity and Hands on Atlanta

What was your first job?

I was a cashier at a local Burger King. I worked more for the discounted burgers than the actual pay.

What are your hobbies?

Reading, watching college sports, and I’m learning to enjoy exercising.
