About David

David practices with the firm’s Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy group. His experience concentrates on commercial bankruptcy matters, including the representation of secured and unsecured creditors, committees, defendants in preference actions, corporate debtors and parties involved in out of court restructurings.

David is admitted to practice in Tennessee (2000), Mississippi (2001), the U.S. District court, Middle District of Tennessee (2001) and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals (2002). He is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, the Nashville Bar Association (Chair, Bankruptcy Court Committee; Chair, Local Rules Sub-committee), the Mississippi Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Mid-South Commercial Law Institute (Director, 2003-present), American Bankruptcy Institute (Member, Advisory Board for the Southeastern Bankruptcy Workshop) and the Turnaround Management Association.

David co-authored the following articles on Bankruptcy: “Advisors in Asbestos-Related Bankruptcies: Judicial Contamination?”, ABI Journal (April 2004); and, “District Court Judge Disqualified from Asbestos-Related Bankruptcy Cases.”, ABI Journal (September 2004). He also presented the lecture “Bankruptcy Issues in Foreclosure Proceedings” for Lorman Education Services, Mortgage Foreclosure in Tennessee (June 17, 2003, & June 10, 2004), and “The New Era of Bankruptcy Practic: A Close Look at the Major Provisions of the New Bankruptcy Act” for Barristers Educational Services (December 2005).

David earned his J.D., 2000, from the University of Mississippi School of Law, and his B.P.A in Criminal Justice Administration, 1997, also from the University of Mississippi.

The practice of law always presents something new and challenging.

Golf, running, water skiing, guitar

What advice would you give to a young student in law school?

Work hard but have fun.

How do you spend your weekend?

Spending time with my wife, Kara, and son, David IV, and trying to squeeze in some golf.
