About Deborah
Deborah practices in the firm’s Business section, representing businesses from their formation, in obtaining financing, in negotiating contracts ranging from shareholder and employee matters, supply and service contracts and other matters; and in mergers and acquisitions. She also represents businesses and individuals in commercial real estate transactions, timberland transactions and construction law. Deborah also serves as the Chair of the firm’s Construction Practice Group.
Deborah is a member of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate and Trusts Section and Business Law Section and is involved with the ABA’s Forum on the Construction Industry. She is also a member of the Alabama State Bar and the Birmingham Bar Association. Deborah has served on the Grievance and the Social Welfare committees of the Birmingham Bar and on the Committee on Rules of Professional Conduct of the Alabama State Bar.
Deborah received her B.A., summa cum laude, in 1982 from Birmingham-Southern College, where she was selected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her J.D. in 1985 from the University of Alabama. During law school, Deborah was a member of the Managing Board of the Alabama Law Review. She was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1985.

Deborah is a member of The Women’s Network and the Kiwanis club of Birmingham. She was a member of the Board of Directors of The Fellowship House and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Farrah Law Society. She serves on a scientific research committee at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and participates in the Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program. Deborah enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and two Labrador Retrievers, cooking, gardening, and going to the beach.
