About Jennifer
Jennifer practices in the firm’s Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy group. She often represents secured creditors and a variety of other players in bankruptcy, including creditors committees, preference defendants and unsecured creditors in pursuing various claims against the debtor, the collateral or the guarantors. In addition, a large part of Jennifer’s practice involves representing automotive manufacturing clients in resolving financial disputes and other issues with the manufacturer’s sole source suppliers in an effort to maintain just-in-time delivery.
Jennifer is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Bankruptcy Division of the Alabama State Bar, the Mississippi State Bar, the American Bar Association, the Birmingham Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, and the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference.
Jennifer received her B.A., summa cum laude, in History from Mississippi State University. She earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Mississippi, where she was Associate Articles Editor for the Mississippi Law Journal, Secretary of the Law School Student Body, a law school Senator and a member of the Moot Court Executive Board. While at Ole Miss, Jennifer was awarded the Robert Upchurch Award for excellence in the field of Federal Jurisdiction, and the Mississippi Bar Foundation Award for her service and dedication to the law school student body. Additionally, she received the Dean’s Distinguished Service Award and the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference Scholarship for excellence in the area of bankruptcy law.
What is your favorite thing about the law?
The fact that it is constantly changing and that no two issues are ever really the same.
What community projects are you involved in?
Habitat for Humanity.
What was your first job?
Sales Associate at The Gap, Inc.
What are your hobbies? Traveling, cooking, reading.
What advice would you give to a young student in law school?
Never give up and to enjoy the three years you spend in law school. Take the time to develop relationships with your classmates - they will be the people you will be practicing law with for most of your career.
How do you spend your weekend?
Traveling, hanging out with friends, home repairs and doing all of the things there usually isn’t time to do during the week.
