John Cross-Examined

What is your favorite thing about the law? In practice, every new project presents different facts and different law. And the exciting challenge is in becoming knowledgeable of the actors and the instruments involved in each case. As a new lawyer, every assignment is an opportunity to learn and to become better at what you do.

What community projects are you involved in? I volunteer at the YMCA coaching soccer and buddy ball to 3rd and 4th graders in my hometown of Clinton. I also mentor aspiring future lawyers that participate in the annual Mississippi High School Youth Legislature Conference here in Jackson.

What was your first job? My first job was as a cook/dishwasher at my grandfather’s restaurant. After about 18 months of delicious food preparation and sparkling cutlery, he finally put me on the register and in front of his customers.

How do you spend your weekend? Enjoying time spent with family and friends, and watching as much football as possible.
