About Kwende
Kwende practices in the firm’s Litigation section, focusing on general commercial litigation and financial services litigation. Kwende’s practice includes representing financial institutions, commercial lenders, telecommunications companies and other business of all sizes in various business disputes in both State and Federal Courts. Kwende has experience prosecuting claims on behalf of his clients as well as defending actions involving state common law and statutory claims. Kwende has successfully prosecuted and defended claims involving allegations of fraud and breach of contract and alleged violations of federal statutes including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Housing Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Truth in Lending Act, and the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, among others. In addition to defending these types of claims, Kwende has experience addressing and dealing with compliance and regulatory issues under these statutes. Kwende also has significant experience representing and advising financial institutions and commercial lenders through the foreclosure confirmation process under Georgia’s Confirmation Statute.
Kwende has represented clients in all phases of civil litigation, including preparation and strategic meetings prior to filing lawsuits, initial pleadings, complex discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, trials, appeals and execution of judgments. Kwende has extensive experience enforcing arbitration provisions and has arbitrated numerous cases before the American Arbitration Association and the Better Business Bureau.
Kwende received his B.S. in Psychology from Morehouse College, where he served as Captain of the Varsity football team. Kwende earned his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served as a team member and coach for the Moot Court Board. Kwende was also the Notes Editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property. At UGA, Kwende was the recipient of the prestigious William King Meadow Award for outstanding integrity and a keen sense of humor.
Kwende has been named multiple times in the Georgia Super Lawyers — Rising Stars Edition in Atlanta Magazine. The lawyers chosen as Rising Stars represent approximately 2.5 percent of the best up-and-coming attorneys in the state as voted by their peers based on personal observations. Kwende was also appointed as a Barrister of the Joseph Henry Lumpkin American Inn of Court.
