About Marty
Marty practices in the firm’s Litigation section. His practice focuses on commercial disputes, fiduciary liability, personal injury, product liability, shareholder disputes, business torts, fraud and bad faith. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the Mississippi State Bar, the American Bar Association, and the Birmingham Bar Association. Marty is admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts of Alabama and Mississippi, as well as the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits.
Marty received his B.S., magna cum laude, in Accounting from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he received the Robert E. Goldsten Award presented by the faculty. Following law school, Marty served for a year as a Judicial Clerk to The Honorable W. Harold Albritton III, U.S. District Judge in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama. Marty has also served in the United States Marine Corps as a rifleman and as a patrol officer with the Birmingham Police Department.

What community projects are you involved in?
I am active in various local and international service projects undertaken by my church, Shades Mountain Baptist.
What was your first job?
I was a laborer on a commercial construction site.
What are your hobbies?
Fishing, hunting and reading.
What advice would you give to a young student in law school?
Learn why, not just what.
How do you define a “good day?”
A “congratulations” from my client, a kiss from my wife, and a hug from my kids!
How do you spend your weekend?
Family, church, office.
