What is your favorite thing about the law? Being an effective lawyer requires the full range of a person’s intellectual, interpersonal, creative and coping skills. Solving problems and getting results can be very challenging and satisfying.

What was your first job? Bay Haven Marina, Holland, Michigan. Assembled sailboat interiors, washed boats, pumped gas, cleaned up the place, etc.

What are your hobbies? Training two German Shepherd dogs for Schutzhund, which is a “triathalon” sport for dogs involving tracking, obedience and protection. The training requires hundreds of hours of work to attain a title for the handler and dog. I also participate in two reading and study groups meeting monthly, one in Classics and one in Theology.
