About Will

Will practices in the Construction and Litigation practice groups and the Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy group. With respect to his construction practice, he focuses primarily on collections and construction defaults relating to insolvencies and bankruptcies. In the landlord-tenant area, he has handled dozens of commercial tenant defaults, evictions and bankruptcies. He also has expertise with respect to creditors’ rights relating to commercial purchase agreements, including the securing of open account sales. Will has successfully resolved hundreds of real estate disputes involving tax title issues for his clients.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar and the Birmingham Bar Association. Within the Alabama State Bar, he is affiliated with the Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section. He also belongs to the American Bankruptcy Institute and has served on the Local Bankruptcy Rules Advisory Committee. He has practiced before all bankruptcy courts in Alabama and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Will is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama. He has given numerous presentations and seminars on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, lien and payment bond rights, landlord-tenant issues. He is a member of the National Tax Lien Association and has given presentations concerning Alabama tax certificate and tax deed issues. Will is also a member of the Construction Financial Management Association.

Will received his B.S. in 1985 from the University of Alabama at Huntsville and his J.D. in 1988 from Vanderbilt University, where he was an Associate Justice on the Moot Court Board. He was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1988.

What is your favorite thing about the law? The challenge of identifying the issues involved in a client’s problem and finding a practical solution to the problem.

What community projects are you involved in? Member of the First United Methodist Church, having served on the Board of Trustees and the Chair of the Finance Committee. Coach, Little League Baseball.

What are your hobbies? The community, school, and athletic activites of my wife and our five children; Boy Scouts; fishing.
