American Health Care Association Appoints Angie Smith to Legal Committee

Burr & Forman is pleased to announce Partner Angie Smith has been appointed to serve on the American Health Care Association's (AHCA) legal committee.

"Angie’s knowledge of regulations and laws impacting long-term care facilities makes her perfect for the role," said Howard Bogard, who leads the firm's Health Care practice. "Congratulations, Angie, on a well-deserved appointment."

At Burr, Angie devotes her practice to defending health care providers against medical malpractice claims as well as defending health care providers in false claims litigation. With a primary focus on long-term care, she serves as outside general counsel for several nursing home providers and the Alabama Nursing Home Association. 

Angie also assists health care providers in navigating federal and state laws that directly affect the industry, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the state of Alabama's Certificate of Need laws, Medicare and Medicaid regulations, and the federal Requirements of Participation.
