Burr & Forman is pleased to announce Nashville Partner Bill Penny has been recognized by the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the 2023 Environmental Stewardship Lifetime Achievement Award. 

The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Environmental Stewardship Awards recognize businesses and individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in environmental protection and enhancement as well as proactive and innovative energy projects.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a special advocate who displays outstanding dedication and leadership for business and industry. 

As Chair of the firm’s Environmental Group, Bill has a wide range of experience at the state and federal levels, including natural resource law, wetlands, water quality, remediation, RCRA matters, brownfield redevelopment, and air pollution control. 

He has also served as general counsel for the Tennessee Department of Health and Environment and, subsequently, the Department of Environment & Conservation for more than eight years.
