Q&A with former Summer Associates
Kelli Carpenter
Q: Why did you choose Burr’s program?
A: It was the best fit for me. The people and the office felt comfortable when I came for my interview.
Q: What made this experience good for you?
A: The people. The attorneys here are accepting of all personalities, so you don’t have to fit the mold for what you think an “attorney” should be. They also are a lot of fun. As a summer associate, you get a good taste of both the work life of an attorney and the social life.

Q: What advice would you give to a law student looking for a summer associate position?
A: The most important advice is to make good grades, but aside from that, be yourself and find a firm you can gel with.
Q: What made this experience good for you?
A: The experience was enjoyable because of the balance of social activities and work experience. The program allowed me to see what work was really like and get to know everyone at the same time.

Q: What made this experience good for you?
A: The quality people at Burr who really want to get to know you and invest in your future career in the legal profession.
Q: What advice would you give to a law student looking for a summer associate position?
A: To be open to meeting new people and to experiencing as many different areas of the law as you possibly can.
Q: What was your most memorable experience as a summer associate?
A: Either the Burr Open or the Beach Trip. Both were a lot of fun and a great opportunity to get to know the people at Burr & Forman. I also enjoyed attending a hearing at the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Montgomery, where Burr lawyers successfully argued their position.
“I believe our strength lies in our people at all levels, those that we team with today and those that we will work with in the future, and the productive environment in which we work.”
