Burr & Forman LLP Is Pleased To Announce That Nine New Partners Have Been Named

The list of the firm's 2012 new partners, by office, includes the following:

New Atlanta, Georgia Partner

Ashby L. Kent, practiced in the firm's Litigation section since 2003 where she specializes in general commercial litigation. She has handled a wide variety of business disputes (tort and contract) for both plaintiffs and defendants, and her clients range from individuals and small businesses to large national financial institutions, including banks, lenders, mortgage companies and insurance companies.

New Birmingham, Alabama Partners

Michael K. K. Choy is a trial lawyer who specializes in civil litigation and trials representing national and regional corporations, closely-held businesses and certain governmental clients. He has obtained favorable verdicts on behalf of corporate and governmental defendants in numerous trials. He is Chair of the Government Investigations and Enforcement practice group.

Devin C. Dolive practices in the firm's Commercial Litigation group and has litigated many types of commercial matters, ranging from contract disputes and business torts to pricing and antitrust matters. Devin also represents employers, focusing on labor & employment litigation and advice, collective bargaining matters and employee benefit and ERISA litigation.

Amy K. Jordan advises and represents employers in a broad range of labor and employment matters. Her practice includes defending employers in Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state agency investigations and in federal and state court litigation for claims arising under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and other federal and state laws.

April McKenzie Mason represents clients in connection with a broad range of business matters, including mergers and acquisitions, financing, corporate governance and business entity formation. She has been involved in a variety of transactions with domestic and foreign, public and privately held clients in the manufacturing, technology, insurance, healthcare and restaurant/hospitality industries.

Melinda E. Sellers practice focuses on Condominium Law, Real Estate Law and Alcohol Regulatory Law. Melinda was head of the Birmingham Commercial Real Estate Women program committee in 2008, is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association's Grievance Committee, a member of the Firm's Recruiting Committee, and a member of the Brewer's Association.

New Mobile, Alabama Partners

Kristin Taylor Ashworth practice is general litigation, with a concentration in employment law. She is experienced in handling all stages of employment matters, and in addition to representing employers in all stages of administrative and legal proceedings, she counsels employers on drafting employee handbooks, contracts, non-compete agreements, and general employment policies and procedures.

Ricardo A. Woods practices in Burr & Forman's litigation section, with an emphasis on business litigation, product liability insurance litigation and media law. His insurance litigation experience includes issues related to defalcation, bad agents, fraud and coverage agents.

New Orlando, Florida Partner

Jacqueline E. Ferris works in the firm's Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy section. Her practice includes representation of corporate debtors and creditors in a broad range of complex business cases of various sizes. Jacqueline's practice includes representation of clients from multiple industries, including telecommunication companies and financial institutions. She also has experience with work outs and assignments for the benefit of creditors.
