McNair’s Sharon Bramlett named President of the Palmetto Center for Women

McNair Law Firm today announced that Sharon C. Bramlett, an attorney in McNair’s Columbia office, has been named President of the Palmetto Center for Women. Effective May 1, 2012, she assumes the position for a two-year term.

Sharon has served on the Board of Directors of the Palmetto Center for Women for a number of years, having been elected Vice President and serving in that capacity for fiscal years 2010-2012. The Palmetto Center for Women, formerly the YWCA and currently a division of the YMCA of Columbia, serves to enhance the lives of women in the Midlands by supporting, developing and championing those issues that affect women as well as bringing public awareness to the accomplishments and substantial contributions of women in business, government, healthcare, education and the arts.

About Sharon Bramlett

Sharon is a native of Columbia and serves as Special Counsel in McNair’s Columbia Office. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Women@McNair and is a charter member of the South Carolina Women Lawyer’s Association. As a part of the firm’s Banking & Finance Practice, she concentrates her practice on commercial and real estate lending and restructurings, as well as consumer law compliance. Named to Best Lawyers 2012® in the practice area of Financial Services Regulation Law, Sharon currently serves as Chairman of the Council of Advisors on Consumer Credit which advises the Department of Consumer Affairs for the State of South Carolina and serves as the State Editor for Houselaw and Carlaw, two national publications advising the consumer finance industry.

In addition to her new position at the Palmetto Center for Women, Sharon currently serves as Secretary of the Corporate, Banking and Securities Section of the South Carolina Bar and is a member of its Ad Hoc Committee writing the South Carolina Report on Opinion Practice. She also serves on the Bar’s Judicial Qualifications Committee and the Task Force on the Unauthorized Practice of Law in Commercial Transactions, among her other professional and community involvements.

About the Palmetto Center for Women

First organized in 1914 as the YWCA of the Midlands, the Palmetto Center for Women continues its close involvement with the community through sponsored events such as the TWIN Awards, honoring women of achievement in the Midlands community, Girls on the Run, a youth health and self-concept initiative, the Trinity Focus Luncheons and an Annual Prayer Breakfast. The organization is currently embarking on a long term partnership with Transitions homeless shelter to work with women in the long term program to prepare them for the transition to work and an independent existence.
