Burr’s Bill Schifino Appointed to University of Florida Law School Board of Trustees
Schifino will serve a five-year term, beginning in September 2013. Schifino earned his law degree from the University of Florida in 1985.
“I am extremely honored to serve my alma mater in this capacity,” said Schifino. “The Levin College of Law enjoys a rich tradition of award-winning education, and I look forward to contributing my time and experience in this new role. It is a privilege to give back to the University that has given me so much throughout my career.”
Schifino joins other leading business executives and attorneys from throughout Florida and across the Southeastern U.S. in overseeing the law school’s facilities and program needs. The Levin College of Law board of trustees assists in the budgetary process, provides financial and volunteer resources to the school, and facilitates student mentoring programs. Money raised through the organization supports a number of student and faculty programs, scholarships and activities.
Schifino joined Burr & Forman last October when his former firm – Williams Schifino Mangione & Steady, P.A. – combined with the Southeastern regional firm, establishing its first Tampa office and raising its total Florida attorney count to 54 lawyers.
Focusing his practice on commercial litigation, including securities, intellectual property, and business tort litigation, Schifino serves clients across the state of Florida and throughout Burr & Forman’s five-state Southeastern footprint. He is certified by The Florida Bar as a specialist in Business Litigation Law, and he is frequently recognized by his peers with accolades from Florida Trend’s Legal Elite, Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America.
Schifino is a past-president of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and a member of The Florida Bar’s board of governors. Former Fla. Gov. Charlie Crist and former Fla. Gov. Jeb Bush appointed Schifino to the Thirteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, of which he is a past-chairman.
