Burr Adds Jacqueline Simms-Petredis in Tampa

Simms-Petredis' practice includes advising financial institutions, mortgage loan originators, loan servicers and investors in contested foreclosures, bankruptcy adversary proceedings, compliance issues, and direct filed lawsuits. Additionally, she has experience advising in-house counsel on litigation arising under the Truth in Lending Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Florida Consumer Collections Practices Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Prior to Akerman, Simms-Petredis served as an attorney with the Office of the Federal Public Defender and as a law clerk with the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida.

Simms-Petredis is an active member of the Florida Bar where she serves as the Board of Governors Circuit Representative for the Young Lawyers Division. She is the current President of the Young Lawyer's Division for the Hillsborough County Bar Association and a member of the Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers. In addition, Jacqueline is a member of the Hillsborough Community College Paralegal Association Board and serves on the board of directors for the Federal Bar Association. She is also a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Tampa and the George Edgecomb Bar Association.

Simms-Petredis received her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from Tulane Law School.
