Burr & Forman secured 176 utility patents in 2020 resulting in a 64% increase in the firm’s number of issued patents in 2019.

Burr & Forman’s Intellectual Property team is comprised of highly-seasoned attorneys with experience handling patent prosecution and litigation matters across a wide variety of industry sectors. The team includes attorneys with practical and theoretical training in mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, computer science, and nuclear engineering technologies. Many of our patent attorneys have experience working in industry and/or in-house, and therefore have hands-on experience with industrial technologies and product development processes. That experience coupled with our extensive knowledge of domestic and foreign patent prosecution has enabled our team to assist clients in numerous industries to conduct portfolio management, due diligence efforts, and development and licensing initiatives. Our attorneys not only have extensive experience in obtaining patent rights for our clients, but also have extensive experience in defending those rights in post-grant proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
