Alicia is a member of Burr & Forman’s Real Estate and Corporate and Tax Practice Groups where she focuses on real estate matters for developers, community associations, property managers, and financial institutions in commercial transactions.
She serves as general counsel for planned community associations and has significant experience in drafting, interpreting, enforcing restrictive covenants, bylaws, and other governing documents and in serving as parliamentarian for meetings. Her other experience includes negotiating and drafting vendor agreements, lease agreements, and easement agreements on behalf of management companies and associations. Alicia’s background as litigation counsel for community associations serves her clients well, as she understands the practical application of restrictive covenants and the disputes that arise in connection with the development of planned communities. She regularly speaks at seminars and conferences for associations, development companies, and management companies regarding condominium law, non-profit corporation law, and real estate related issues.
Alicia’s practice also involves formation of ownership entities, as well as representation of lenders in commercial loans, including drafting loan documents and supervising real estate closings. She has also represented local companies, including hospitality and tourism clients in diverse areas such as defending and prosecuting foreclosures and declaratory judgment actions. Alicia is a certified mediator and available to assist with pre-suit disputes and litigation matters.
Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Alicia has called the Grand Strand her home since 2000. She and her husband Greg have three children. Alicia gives back to the community through her service on several non-profit boards, including the Myrtle Beach Area Regional Economic Development Corporation and Women in Philanthropy and Leadership at Coastal Carolina University. She is delighted to serve the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce as a director beginning January 1, 2020.
