Burr Attorneys to Host Webinar for Strafford on Remote Transactions Through E-Signatures

Firm News

Atlanta partner Ed Snow, along with Birmingham partner Beth Shirley will be co-presenting on a webinar with Strafford on “Using Electronic Contracts and E-Signatures for Remote Transactions.” The webinar will take place on June 9th and will discuss recent developments including remote notarization, PPP loan e-notes, and possible UCC revisions for emerging technologies

The webinar will examine recent legal trends and developments regarding e-signatures and electronic contracts, focusing in part on the use of e-signatures and electronic contracts during COVID-19 business interruptions, governors’ remote notarization executive orders, a status update on the ambitious efforts of the Uniform Law Commission and the American Law Institute to reconfigure the UCC for emerging digital technologies, and recent case law on e-signatures.

The webinar will also review and discuss the nuts and bolts of the typical, yet evolving, legal and practical issues, including the authentication of e-signatures; the admissibility of electronic contracts and e-signatures in litigation; and the implications of the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce (ESIGN) Act, Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA), and UCC for parties contracting via electronic means.

Ed and Beth will also be joined by Patrick Hatfield, a partner at the law firm of Locke Lord in Atlanta. For more information and to register for the webinar, please visit Strafford’s website.
