Burr & Forman Boosts Intellectual Property Practice in Tampa

Tampa, Fla. - Burr & Forman LLP is pleased to announce that Harvey S. Kauget has joined as a partner in the firm's Tampa office. Kauget boosts Burr & Forman's Intellectual Property practice, bringing more than 15 years of experience in representing clients in patent and trade secret litigation, IP risk management and portfolio licensing.

"Protecting IP has become a crucial business strategy for our clients and with the addition of Harvey in our Tampa office, our firm is well situated to assist in providing clients with senior-level IP counsel," said Bill Schifino, managing partner of Burr & Forman's Tampa office. "Harvey's deep knowledge and experience in this complex area of law brings tremendous value to our clients in Florida and across the Southeast. Kauget's experience includes assisting clients with litigation and patent prosecution for a number of manufacturing, technology and household items, including semiconductor processing equipment, software and business methods, LEDs, computer/telephony integration, computer networking, satellite communication, gaming devices, painting systems, ceiling fans and medical sampling devices.

Prior to entering private practice, Kauget had significant experience as an engineer in the semiconductor industry and as a chemistry and physics educator. Before coming to Burr & Forman, he was with the law firm of Phelps Dunbar LLP.

Harvey earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Stony Brook University, his master's degree in materials engineering (specializing in electronic materials) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and his law degree from the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.
