Firm News

COLUMBIA, SC. March 1, 2019 - Burr Forman McNair announces the addition of partner William (“Corky”) Klett, who joins the firm’s Intellectual Property group where he focuses on intellectual property litigation of all types throughout the Southeast and in courts across the United States. He is also routinely involved in the intellectual property aspects of corporate transactions, including due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, technology transfer and licensing, as well as intellectual property portfolio creation, management and enforcement. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants, and has experience protecting the rights and interests of companies, individual inventors, engineers, artists, authors and musicians.

“The addition of Corky to Burr Forman McNair’s intellectual property practice is in direct response to our clients’ growing demand for patent, trademark and copyright representation,” said Michael Weaver, Burr Forman McNair’s Columbia office managing partner. “His strong IP background will be a tremendous asset for our clients seeking counsel in developing appropriate strategies to identify, protect and defend inventions and technology.”

Klett has experience representing clients in patent infringement matters related to a broad range of technologies and has argued before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He also litigates trademark and copyright infringement matters, as well as unfair competition and trade secrets cases.

Klett is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; U.S. District Courts in South Carolina, Colorado and the Western District of Texas; and U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Fourth, Tenth and Federal Circuits.
