Overview
Emory is an associate in the firm’s General Commercial Litigation Practice Group, with experience assisting high-profile athletes, public figures, and organizations in the sports & entertainment space.
Before earning his J.D. from the Emory University School of Law, Emory was a Division I student-athlete at Dartmouth College, where he earned his B.A. in Government with a minor in African/African-American Studies. Emory was a four-year member of the football team as a wide receiver, is a 2015 Ivy League Football Champion, and the 2018 Dartmouth Football Special Teams Player of the Year.
His first-hand knowledge of collegiate level athletics, recruitment, NCAA compliance, and more, coupled with his diverse exposure to practice areas as a litigator, make Emory an asset in the sports law practice.
While attending Emory Law, he became a standout legal extern with the Atlanta Hawks & State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Emory provided support in a broad range of areas including contract drafting, licensing, marketing, music copyrights, data protection, and the operation of State Farm Arena as a multi-purpose venue.
Emory then served as a legal intern with the Kraft Group (the holding company of the New England Patriots and New England Revolution) in Foxborough, Massachusetts. While in the “Boro”, he assisted ownership and top executives in the operation of Gillette Stadium as a multi-purpose venue, Patriot Place as an open-access dining, and entertainment complex, as well as engagement with football and soccer operations in the Sports + Entertainment arm of the Kraft Group portfolio.
Emory has also contributed to notable publications on collegiate athletics, with his article, “The ‘Great Migration:’ The Evolving Landscape of Education, Sport, and Professionalism in College Football for Black Male Student-Athletes,” featured in Sports Litigation Alert and Legal Issues in Collegiate Athletics. This work explores the transformation of the college “gridiron” from an academic, athletic, political, and professional standpoint before and after de-segregation in the U.S.
Emory is a true believer that sport is a universal language, and has a passion for combining his competitive spirit, athletic background, and legal knowledge to help his clients acheive their goals.
