Burr Plays Key Role in Minth Group's $430 Million Redevelopment Project

On March 6, 2026, Burr & Forman assisted global automotive supplier Minth Group in connection with the development of a $430 million automotive parts manufacturing facility in Gadsden, Alabama.

As part of the project, Minth Group acquired and will redevelop a more than 400-acre brownfield site that was previously home to Gulf States Steel. The new facility, which is expected to include nearly 1 million square feet of manufacturing space, will produce plastic and aluminum components for automakers’ U.S. operations, supporting a wide range of manufacturers across the automotive industry.

The project required navigating environmental and regulatory considerations associated with the redevelopment of a legacy industrial site that has remained largely inactive since 2000. Advancement of the project included coordination with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management through its Voluntary Compliance Program for Brownfield Sites, as well as the structuring of state and local economic development incentives to support the investment.

Burr advised Minth Group on environmental and regulatory matters and supported the acquisition and redevelopment of the project site. The firm worked closely with state and local stakeholders throughout the process, including coordinating brownfield compliance and facilitating engagement with economic development authorities to advance the project on an accelerated timeline.

This project represents one of the largest economic development announcements in Gadsden in decades and is expected to create more than 1,300 jobs, contributing to the continued growth of Alabama’s automotive manufacturing sector and the revitalization of a long-dormant industrial site.

Minth Group is a global automotive supplier specializing in trim and structural components, with operations across North America, Asia, and Europe.

The Burr & Forman team included Greg Canfield, Warren Matthews, Schuyler Espy, Melinda Sellers, Chloe Champion, and Mary Kate Miranda, who contributed to various aspects of the project as it progressed from initial evaluation through announcement and groundbreaking.
