Firm News

Burr & Forman recently sponsored the 30th Annual Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair held in New York, NY August 8-10. The conference is presented by the National LGBT Bar Association. Burr Atlanta Partner Beth Davis also served as a panelist for the conference workshop session "Hitting the Restart Button on Law Firm Diversity."

The workshop session focused on law firm diversity strategies and discussed what has worked and what has not in the past. Panelists offered thoughts on new strategies to create an inclusive environment, retain diverse talent for partnership opportunities, and how to open new markets for law firms. Other panelists included were Marla Butler from Robins Kaplan LLP, Vincent A. Castiglione, Bendita Cynthia Malakia from Hogan Lovells, and Michelle Waites from the Xerox Corporation.

In addition, the firm participated in the Lavender Law's Career Fair, taking place the Friday following the conference. The team from Burr met with numerous potential candidates, reviewing resumes, discussing career goals, and informing candidates about what all Burr & Forman has to offer. This year's career fair consisted of nearly 300 candidates and over 170 recruiters representing law firms, government agencies, and non-profit organizations interested in diversity at the 2018 career fair in New York.
