Burr & Forman's Paula Barnes to Serve as President of the Association of Legal Administrators in 2014

Barnes will be the first Nashville resident to serve as president of ALA, which includes 10,000 members worldwide who are involved in the management of law firms, corporate legal departments and government legal agencies. Barnes' term as president-elect begins in April 2013.

"Appointment to the presidential track in ALA involves a rigorous nomination and selection process that evaluates a candidate's demonstrated leadership, peer recognition and a proven track record of success in both ALA and in one's firm," explained Thomas K. Potter, III, managing partner of Burr & Forman's Nashville office. "Paula's deep commitment to ALA and her excellent contributions to our firm make her an outstanding choice for this important role, and we are pleased to support her in this endeavor."

Barnes joined Burr & Forman when its Nashville office opened in 2006 and has over 13 years of experience as a legal administrator. Her ALA resume includes both chapter and regional leadership positions. She has served as secretary, vice president and two terms as president of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of ALA. She is a previous projects officer, and member of the Conference Planning and Nominating Committees for ALA Region 2, which includes the Southeastern United States. Barnes currently serves as Region 2 director. She is a frequent speaker on topics related to management, leadership and coaching/mentoring.

Barnes earned her bachelor's degree from Grand Canyon University and her master's degree from Baylor University.
