Burr's John Chiles to Serve as Chairman of Conference on Consumer Finance Law
Fort Lauderdale, FL., September 19, 2018 - Fort Lauderdale counsel John Chiles was recently elected to serve as chairman of the Governing Committee of The Conference on Consumer Finance Law (CCFL). John will serve a three- year term as Chairman of the Governing Committee, which establishes policies and directs the activities of the CCFL organization.
The CCFL is a non-profit organization founded in 1926 by members of the legal profession and the financial services industry to offer educational services, publications and research relating to consumer financial services law. The CCFL publishes the Consumer Law Quarterly; sponsors the Fred Fisher Memorial Program at the Spring Meeting of the American Bar Association's Business Law Section; and conducts two-day advanced seminars on consumer finance law each spring in Chicago and each fall in Ft. Worth.
At Burr, John is a member of the firm's Financial Services Litigation Group. His practice features a concentration on consumer financial services, class actions, mass actions, and commercial issues. He is the founder and former managing partner of the firm's Fort Lauderdale office and the former chair of the firm's Financial Services Practice Group. John has maintained a multi-jurisdictional practice for many years by being admitted to the bar in 8 southeastern states.
John is a fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers and a member of the Board of Regents. He has been selected by his peers since 2007 for inclusion in Alabama and Florida Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America in several relevant practice categories. He was also selected by Best Lawyers as the "Class Action Defense Lawyer of the Year" for South Florida in 2015.
