Ed Christian Featured in Law360 on Southeastern Partner Promotions

Firm News

Ed Christian was quoted in a March 3, 2023, article in Law360 discussing the growth of partner classes at law firms throughout the Southeast. In addition to discussing partner elevation trends throughout the region, Christian highlighted Burr & Forman’s strategy related to attracting and retaining talent and this year’s round of partner promotions across the firm following the six newest partners announced for the 2023 class.

The firm’s latest partner promotions span five offices across three states, which Christian said reflects the firm’s strength across its footprint. “We do not set out to promote by geography or practice. Promotion is the result of excellent and responsive service to clients, economic contribution and good firm citizenship,” he said.

Christian also highlighted the firm’s cultural advantage in recruiting and retention, even as competition for talent intensifies with outside law firms increasingly moving into Southeastern markets due to corporate expansion. “Our lawyers are regularly contacted by other firms,” he said. “We work hard to maintain a culture that makes lawyers want to build their careers here. Our lawyers enjoy their jobs and working with each other, and that helps us with retention and recruiting, which is how we stay competitive even in high-growth markets.”

New partners at Burr & Forman this year include Andrea Dorgan in Birmingham, Michael Burchstead in Columbia, John Connell, Jr. in Greenville, Lindsay Hartman in Hilton Head, and Samuel Morris and Renee Rayne in Nashville.
