James Roberts Named One of Birmingham Business Journal's Rising Stars Lawyers of 2017

Birmingham, Ala., October 06, 2017 - Burr & Forman announces that Birmingham-based Associate, James Roberts has been named as one of the Birmingham Business Journal's Rising Stars Lawyers of 2017. The Rising Stars Lawyers of 2017 list recognizes 30 up-and-coming attorneys in Birmingham's legal industry. Those honored were chosen based on their contributions to their firms and their potential to shape the industry as well as the Birmingham legal world in the years to come. At Burr, James works in the Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy Group focusing on all aspects of corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, and insolvency proceedings, including Section 363 sales, disorderly winddowns, preference and fraudulent transfer litigation. James also works with clients in Chapter 11 proceedings, as well as financial institutions holding distressed debt portfolios. In addition, James sits on the firm's diversity committee and is highly involved in the firm's diversity initiatives. James received his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC. While attending GULC, James was a mentor for the Georgetown Black Law Students Association. He also was recognized by the National Council of Bankruptcy Judges as a Blackshear Fellow. In 2014, James received the John F. and Noreen C. Sweeney Scholarship for academic performance.
