Burr & Forman Mobile partner John Browning was recently elected to serve as vice-chair to the Business Litigation General Committee of the TIPS Section for the American Bar Association (ABA). In addition, he was also elected to serve on The Brief Editorial Board Standing Committee. He will serve a one-year term for both positions for the 2019-2020 board year.

Browning has held a number of leadership positions with the ABA over the years, including vice-chair for other committees, including Self-Insurers and Risk Managers, Litigation and Trial Practice, Toxic and Environmental Torts, and Products Liability.  The ABA TIPS section has more than 17,000 members nationally. Browning’s term will began on the last day of the 2019 ABA Annual Meeting in San Francisco and will end on the last day of the 2020 Annual Meeting in Toronto.

At Burr, Browning is a member of the firm’s Torts Trial and Insurance Practice Section and is an experienced trial lawyer, having represented businesses and their insurers in cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, and commercial losses arising out of motor vehicle accidents, engineering and construction defects, work site accidents, product defects, dram shop & social host liability, negligent security, environmental and public nuisance, and general premises liability. Having handled cases through jury trial and appeal, he is also asked to advise businesses on their risk management and insurance needs.

In addition, he is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and currently serves as an editor for The Brief magazine and Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Journal, both publications of the ABA and TIPS. John is also a proud member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and past young-lawyer President for the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA).
