Overview

Burr & Forman’s Transportation team is comprised of attorneys with real-world experience to assist manufacturers with all aspects of their shipping needs.  From getting raw materials and supplies at the front-end of the supply chain, to the shipment and delivery of finished products, our attorneys work with surface transportation companies (rail and truck), as well as water-borne transport providers (domestic and international) to protect our clients’ interests and business needs. This includes, as well, our representation and work with intermediaries in the process: third-party logistics providers, brokers, freight forwarders, NVOCCs, and similar entities.

Drawing on this background, we understand the needs of manufacturing clients who must efficiently move finished goods to market. This might require assistance with contracts of affreightment, bills of lading, charter parties, service contracts, or negotiated service agreements, as well as review and consultation on appropriate insurance products and coverages.  In the event we run across an issue outside of our skillset, we are able to draw upon our partners at Burr & Forman to provide unparalleled access to other practice areas to handle inter-related aspects of logistics law (e.g., taxation, environmental, finance, etc.).

In addition, given the volatile nature of the transportation and logistics industry, our team is prepared to respond quickly to clients' calls - responding night or day in the event of an accident, and going to the scene to ensure our clients' interests are protected.
