Tampa, Fla., Jan. 05, 2017 - Burr & Forman LLP announces the addition of two attorneys to the firm's Tampa office. J. Travis Godwin joins the firm as counsel in the Health Care practice and Adam J. Knight joins the firm as an associate in the Financial Services Litigation practice.

Godwin counsels physicians, nurses, pharmacies, durable medical equipment companies, software companies, bio-medical research and manufacturing companies and hospitals in all aspects of health care law, including compliance with federal and state regulations, licensing, employment issues, trademark infringement, fraud and abuse, medical staff peer review, reimbursement disputes, civil defense and business transactions. He also advises institutional review boards regarding the oversight of studies involving human subjects, and represents individuals and entities with corporate and commercial litigation matters.

Active in the community, Godwin currently serves as board chair for After School All Stars, an afterschool program that ensures students are safe and healthy and successfully graduate from high school. He is also on the board of directors for the The American Cancer Society, the Ferguson-White American Inn of Court, an organization dedicated to promoting the highest levels of professionalism in the practice of law, and the First Tee of Tampa Bay, a program that utilizes golf to life skills for children of all ages and backgrounds. In addition, he serves as a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.

Godwin earned his undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida, his master's degree from the University of Florida and his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law.

Knight focuses his practice on the representation of creditor rights in mortgage foreclosure litigation and defending creditor interests in claims arising under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Florida's Consumer Collection Practices Act (FCCPA) and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

Knight also counsels clients on real estate issues including title insurance claims, boundary disputes, commercial lease transactions, escrow disputes, and other real estate litigation and transactional matters. He previously owned a successful local title company, and is a licensed title insurance agent for Old Republic National Title Insurance Company and the Attorney's Title Insurance Fund.

Outside of Burr & Forman, Knight is a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division and the Hillsborough County Bar Association.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his law degree from Georgia State University College of Law.
