Birmingham, Ala., November 18, 2015 - Burr & Forman LLP announces that Birmingham-based Partner, Angie Cameron Smith has been named among the Top 15 Business Women in Alabama by the National Diversity Council. Smith will be recognized at the Inaugural Alabama Women's Conference on November 18th at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham - The Wynfrey Hotel Galleria.

Criteria for the Top 15 Business Women in Alabama honor include: demonstrating a high level of integrity and ethical behavior, acting as a top leader in her organization and profession, inspiring others as a role model and active mentor to women within the industry, holding a proven track record of achievements in her area of expertise and contributing to business development, and has an established commitment to corporate citizenship.

At Burr, Smith practices in the Health Care industry group where she defends health care providers against medical malpractice claims and false claims litigation. She also assists health care providers with navigating federal and state laws directly impacting the health care industry, including but not limited to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ("HIPAA"), the state of Alabama's certificate of need laws, and Medicare and Medicaid regulations.

Smith received both her undergraduate and law degrees from The University of Alabama.
