Burr & Forman Helps Fund Position at Alabama Ballet
Birmingham, Ala., January 23, 2019 – Burr & Forman LLP and The Alabama Ballet announce the new position of Director of CityDance. For the firm’s annual holiday donation, Burr & Forman made a donation to The Alabama Ballet that was generously matched from a long time ballet supporter. The impact of these donations allowed The Alabama Ballet to create and fund the position of Director of CityDance.
CityDance is an outreach program of The Alabama Ballet that provides dance education for 3rd – 5th grade, inner city students, who are without access to, and cannot afford training in the arts. The children, taught by The Alabama Ballet members, learn the basics of ballet and jazz, and explore dance imaging concepts, and through the training improve their general learning and social skills. The popularity of the CityDance has grown consistently, and the program has expanded to two eight-week programs, reaching eight Birmingham elementary schools and the YMCA Youth Center. Approximately 300 new elementary students will participate in the program this upcoming year.
The Alabama Ballet’s mission is to change lives through dance by promoting and fostering the development of classical and contemporary ballet through high-quality performances, dance education, and community outreach. Burr & Forman LLP is honored to play a small role in helping The Alabama Ballet achieve that mission.
