Burr & Forman, LLP is pleased to announce it has been recognized by Lawyers of Color (LOC) with the Aspire Diversity Award, which was presented at a May 18 reception in Washington, D.C. LOC is a nonprofit organization focused on promoting diversity in the legal profession and advancing democracy and equality in marginalized communities.

As part of the firm’s goal to achieve inclusive diversity and equitable outcomes in recruitment, retention, development, promotion and compensation, Burr & Forman engages in a variety of initiatives led by Walters in conjunction with the firm’s executive and diversity committees. These include internship opportunities for students of diverse backgrounds in the firm’s Pre-Law Program, firm-wide inclusion trainings for attorneys and staff, sponsorship and participation in diverse bar associations, firm-sponsored affinity groups that provide resources to and promote the interests of attorneys from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds, and more. To earn the Aspire Diversity Award, law firms must satisfy two of three categories established by LOC, including having at least one staff member with the word “equity,” “diversity,” or “inclusion” in their title; at least one attorney of color who is a managing partner, executive or management committee member or a practice group head; and, at least 4% Black attorneys.
