“EEOC Updates Mandatory Poster, Adds QR Code for Filing Charges,” HR Dive

Firm News

Carlton Hilson was quoted in HR Dive’s breaking coverage related to the updated mandatory “Know Your Rights” poster released by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on October 19, 2022, which replaced its previous “EEO is the Law” poster and added a QR code that directs users to the EEOC’s webpage detailing how to file a charge.

The updated poster may result in an increase in the number of discrimination charges filed by employees, according to Hilson, who added that the poster provides notice to employees that sexual orientation and gender identity are characteristics protected by federal anti-discrimination law.

“Today’s EEOC activity should serve as another reminder to employers to review employee handbooks and workplace policies to ensure they are up to date and in compliance with recent changes to federal EEO law,” Hilson said.
