Jacqueline Simms-Petredis Elected to Florida Bar Board of Governors
Burr & Forman is pleased to announce that Tampa Partner and Office Managing Partner, Jacqueline Simms-Petredis, has been elected to The Florida Bar's Board of Governors. Jacqueline was sworn into the Board at the Bar’s Annual Convention in Boca Raton on June 27th. Jacqueline previously served the Florida Bar on its Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors.
The Board of Governors serves as the governing body of The Florida Bar, with authority to establish policy on matters affecting the state’s lawyers and legal profession. Composed of 52 members, the Board includes elected representatives from Florida’s 20 judicial circuits, out-of-state representatives, public members appointed by the Florida Supreme Court, and leaders of the Bar and its Young Lawyers Division. As of December 1, The Florida Bar includes more than 111,000 members, with over 92,000 eligible to practice.
Jacqueline is a partner in Burr & Forman’s Financial Services Litigation practice group and has more than 20 years of experience representing financial institutions nationwide. She counsels banks, mortgage lenders, credit card companies, and auto finance companies in litigation involving federal and state consumer protection laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Truth-in-Lending Act, and Fair Credit Reporting Act.
