Jeffrey Beaverstock Joins Other Burr & Forman Alums in Judicial Appointment

MOBILE, Ala., August 6, 2018 - Mobile partner, Jeffrey Beaverstock was recently appointed as a U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Alabama. He was sworn in on Friday, August 3rd by Chief U.S. District Judge Kristi Dubose. Jeffrey joins other Burr & Forman alums who have gone on to become federal judges including Bess Creswell, also from Mobile, appointed just a few months ago as the United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Middle District of Alabama as well as Jason Woodard, appointed as a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Mississippi, and James J. Robinson, appointed as a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Alabama.

He was nominated to Federal judgeship by President Donald J. Trump back in September 2017.

At Burr, Jeffrey's practice focused on civil and commercial litigation in State and Federal courts. Before entering the practice of law, he served on active duty for four years as an Airborne Ranger Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army, and has served in the U.S. Army Reserve since leaving active duty. Jeff currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the U.S. Army (Reserve) and is the Chief of Contract and Administrative Law for the 377th Theater Sustainment Command.

He earned his B.A. from The Citadel, where he was selected as the Distinguished Military Graduate and as the Most Outstanding Army Cadet. He earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he served as managing editor of the Alabama Law Review. Beaverstock is also currently the president of the Board of Directors of Ransom Ministries, chairman of the Administrative Board of Christ United Methodist Church in Mobile, and also serves as a Cub Scout Den Leader.
